Introduction ------------ You can view this file with Notepad or any word processing program. When using Notepad, maximize it and turn on its word-wrap function for better comfort in viewing the file contents. If desired, print out this file using the print function of Notepad or your word processing application. Overview ------------------------------------------------------------ This module update pack contains updated modules for fixing the bugs of DocuWorks Ver. 4.0.x[ENG] explained in "2. Bug Fixes". ------------------------------------------------------------ 2. Bug Fixes ------------------------------------------------------------ The changes made from Ver. 4.0.5 are as follows: Fixed security vulnerability. (14155) The changes made from Ver. 4.0.4 are as follows: DocuWorks Ver. 4.0.4 is tested on Windows XP, and critical troubles are fixed. Fixed problem that when you create DocuWorks documents from the original data (with no DocuWorks page attached) in Desk, the file size may be larger compared to DocuWorks documents made by drag & drop to Desk, or using the DocuWorks Printer. (6371) Fixed problem that in Windows 2000 or Windows XP, if you convert PDF document into DocuWorks document by using DocuWorks Printer from Acrobat(R) Reader(R), the characters may change into space. (6380) If you convert multi-page TIFF (monochrome and color combined) into DocuWorks document, all pages will be converted using only the number of colors used in the first page. (6518) Fixed problem that in Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, or Windows XP, if you convert Microsoft(R) Visio(R) 2002 document into DocuWorks document, some characters may disappear or change into strange symbols. (6523) Fixed problem that when you print domcunment using PS printer, some figures may not be printed correctly. (6541) Fixed problems that if the client PC does not have enough memory and the scanner stops during scanning, the image files before the conversion are deleted. (6554) Fixed problem that DocuWorks cannot import TIFF Revision 6.0, TIFF JPEG Compression 7.0, and TIFF-FX files. (6568) A message will appear when DocuWorks has converted 999 pages of application data into DocuWorks document at one time. The maximum page DocuWorks can convert at one time is 999 pages. (6571) Fixed problem that in Windwos XP, if you convert Microsoft(R) Excel(R) 2002 documents into DocuWorks documents, a symbol may be inserted in top of the text. (6574) The changes made from Ver. 4.0.2 are as follows: Fixed problem that in DocuWorks Viewer, when you print a document in a binder by choosing Selected Pages for Page range, the correct page will not be printed. (5661) Fixed problem that in Windows 95/98, a DocuWorks document created from an application data may have image loss if the data size for display during the conversion exceeded 10MB. (5691) Fixed problem that in Windows 95/98, if you print a DocuWorks document created from application data to a PostScript(R) printer, the PC may hang. (5704) Fixed problem that a PC which uses Pentium Pro may crash when you start DocuWorks Desk or Viewer. (5720) Fixed problem that when you display a DocuWorks document which includes a monochrome image, the DocuWorks Viewer may crash. (5738) Fixed problem that in Windows 95/98, an error may occur when you try to convert a PDF file into a DocuWorks document. (5771) Fixed problem in DocuWorks Desk, a page will not be rotated in the correct direction even if you have selected "Automatically rotate page" for a scanned document or document before performing OCR. (5777) Fixed problem that when you execute "Further compress pages with color images" of the Page Processing plug-in to a document which includes an image page of 16 colors (4-bit color), the error message "Error occurred while processing page x. Page processing will be canceled." appears and the operation will be canceled. (5782) ------------------------------------------------------------ 3. Installation ------------------------------------------------------------ Read the following notes before installing Module Update Pack. 3-1. Installation Requirements ------------------------------ The following systems are recommended for installation: - OS: Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT 4.0(Service Pack 3 or higher), Windows 2000, or Windows XP - CPU: Pentium 100MHz or higher - RAM: 32MB or more - Free space on hard disk: 40MB or more To use DocuWorks, 200MB or more free space on hard disk is recommended. 3-2. Note on Installation ------------------------- Before installing Module Update Pack, close all applications that are still running. To install DocuWorks in Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, or Windows XP, you need privileges equal to those of Administrators. If you abort the Setup program midway through the installation, DocuWorks will not work. You must install the software again. If a file copy error occurs, try the following actions to resolve. (a) The destination directory or file is write-protected. Use a different directory or remove the write protection. (b) The original file of installation cannot be read. Use a correct setup disk. After the installation, do not change the structure of program files' directory or move files, otherwise DocuWorks may fail to run. 3-3. Installation Procedure --------------------------- Run SETUP.EXE to start the installation, as follows: (1) From the Start button, select Run. (2) When prompted, enter "c:\tmp\disk1\setup.exe", where "c:\tmp" is the location where SETUP.EXE is located. If you have obtained the Module Update Pack by downloading from the Internet, be sure to run the self-extracting file and store the files at an appropriate location. (3) If installation is to be from the floppy disk drive, then insert the first disk (disk1) into the drive and type "a:\setup.exe" instead. Here "a:" indicates the floppy disk drive, so be sure to check the floppy disk drive on your PC before proceeding. (4) Click the [OK] button and then follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation, which updates a number of files listed below. ------------------------------------------------------------ 4. Version Information ------------------------------------------------------------ To see the updated version of the software, from the Help menu of DocuWorks Desk or DocuWorks Viewer, choose About DocuWorks Desk or About DocuWorks Viewer respectively. This module update pack changes the versions as follows: DocuWorks Desk: 4.0.6[ENG] DocuWorks Viewer: 4.0.6[ENG] ------------------------------------------------------------ 5. Notes ------------------------------------------------------------ This module update pack is supplied only to those who have obtained the normal license of DocuWorks Ver. 4.0.6[ENG]. In Windows 2000 and Window XP, limited users (Users) cannot use DocuWorks. To use DocuWorks, you need privileges equal to or higher than those of Power Users. When you uninstall DocuWorks in Windows 2000 or Windows XP, the Add/Remove Program Properties dialog box may freeze after the uninstallation. To solve this problem, reboot Windows. Uninstallation is completed correctly. (5371) ------------------------------------------------------------ 6. License Agreement ------------------------------------------------------------ ADDITIONAL SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT 1. Base Software This software called Fuji Xerox DocuWorks Ver. 4.0[ENG] Module Update Pack (Ver. 4.0.6[ENG]) is an additional software for bug fix and/or maintenance of the DocuWorks Ver. 4.0[ENG] (the "Base Software"). 2. Grant of License In accordance with the terms and conditions of this Additional Software License Agreement (the "Agreement"), Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. ("Fuji Xerox") grants you ("Customer") a nonexclusive license to use the Fuji Xerox DocuWorks Ver. 4.0[ENG] Module Update Pack (Ver. 4.0.6[ENG]) software which consists of a computer program and related documentation (the "Software") with the Base Software as follows: (a) Customer may use the Software on the number of computers which is indicated on the license agreement of Base Software. (b) Customer may make one backup copy of the Software, provided the backup copy is not installed or used on any computer. Customer agrees that each copy shall contain copyright, trademark and other intellectual property notices that appear on or in the Software. 3. Rights of Software All intellectual properties, including but not limited to copyrights of the Software, are retained by Fuji Xerox and/or its suppliers. 4. Warranty (1) THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE, AND, THEREFORE, ON AN "AS IS" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. (2) FUJI XEROX MAKES NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, AS TO MERCHANTABILITY, OR FITNESS FOR ANY PARTICULAR PURPOSE. IN NO EVENT WILL FUJI XEROX BE LIABLE TO CUSTOMER FOR ANY CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL OR SPECIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING ANY LOST PROFITS OR LOST SAVING, EVEN IF FUJI XEROX HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY CLAIM BY ANY THIRD PARTY. (3) Some jurisdictions do not allow exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages. In such jurisdictions the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to Customer. 5. Customer's Obligation (1) Customer shall not use, copy, make available to the public, modify, translate, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble the Software except provided in this Agreement. (2) Customer shall not assign, rent or sublicense the Software to any third party. (3) Customer shall not delete or alter trademarks notices on the media and within the Software. 6. Termination (1) License to use the Software will automatically terminate in case Customer fails to comply with any of the terms and conditions in this Agreement, or the license of the Base Software. (2) Upon termination of license to use the Software, Customer shall immediately expunge or destroy the Software. 7. Other Provisions Customer shall comply with the term and conditions which the license agreement of the Base Software other than in the Agreement. ------------------------------------------------------------ 7.
