Fuji Xerox Starts Ubiquitous Media Services

In a major step to expand its presence in broadband technologies
and enhance the possibilities of knowledge workers, Fuji Xerox has launched
Ubiquitous Media Services. The Services comprise three offerings: Knowledge
Drive, MediaDEPO and FLYCAM that provide a seamless and natural communication
environment for remote users. Sales began on July 25.
In its first stage, the services will be supported by Sony
Corporation's broadband media service that facilitates the transmission
of heavy data.

- Knowledge-Drive is an application service for cross-enterprise
use that can manage and distribute knowledge to help a user's
meeting, conference and seminar needs with their business partners
on the Internet. By automatically managing multi-media contents,
from video recording and editing, to production and distribution
of contents via a Web server, users can participate in interactive
video and presentations from remote locations. For regular users
of the service, on-demand digital contents distribution is also
available for a monthly fee.
- MediaDEPO (Internet Video On-Demand Server with Video Search
Function) is a Web-based ready video server that allows users
to receive video contents, search and maintain contents in a
database, and share this data for reuse. Users can easily search
video data in three ways: through a video slicing quick lookup,
audio search and a video quick summary that enables users to
post-participate in live events and meetings.
- FLYCAM is a real-time panoramic video streaming server that
provides an automatic real-time panoramic video streaming environment
by stitching images together from multiple video cameras into
a 360 degrees motion panoramic view or half panoramic view 180
degrees. With FLYCAM, users can participate remotely in real
time live meetings. The best results can be achieved when FLYCAM
is combined with Knowledge-Drive to provide a panoramic visual
experience.
