| Fuji Xerox received the BS7799 Information Security Management
System (ISMS) certification on January 23 from JACO (Japan Audit and Certification
Organization for Environment and Quality), which works as an auditing
and certification organization for UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation
Service)* in Japan. Initially, Fuji Xerox
was chosen as a pilot company to undergo testing for BS7799 certification.

| |
| Fuji Xerox received the BS7799 certification for Xnet, Fuji Xerox 's extranet that adopts
PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) technology. Xnet offers a secure
environment for its business partners to conduct business over the Net
using digital signatures for e-mail and encryption for its network services.
|
| |
| In November 2001, Fuji Xerox took its PKI technology one step further by
introducing SDES (Secure Document Exchange Services), which combines Fuji Xerox 's
unique PKI technology and management knowhow in two packaged services
including a digital document certification service and a document
distribution service that users can access from a client Web browser.
|
| |
| The achievement of BS7799 is expected to set a high standard in net
security for Fuji Xerox to strive for even higher quality in its information
security management systems.
|
| |
| * UKAS is a non-profit organization. The BS7799 certification is now
a defacto standard in the EU, which is expected to be included in
ISO certification by 2003.
