All 33 Domestic Sales Subsidiaries Obtain
ISO14001 Certification

July 16, 2002

On June 26, 2002, 11 Fuji Xerox domestic sales subsidiaries obtained ISO14001, rounding out the total number of domestic sales subsidiaries to obtain certification to all 33 subsidiaries. The sales subsidiaries cover 300 sales locations and employ more than 7,000 personnel. Fuji Xerox's sales organizations, namely GMC (General Office Marketing Company) and ISC (Industry Solutions Company), as well as its customer service department, CSSC (Customer Services & Support Company), have also acquired the certification as of December 2001.

The 11 domestic sales subsidiaries are Fukushima Xerox Co., Ltd., Iwate Xerox Co., Ltd., Tochigi Xerox Co., Ltd., Aichi Xerox Co., Ltd., Higashi-Aichi Xerox Co., Ltd., Mie Xerox Co., Ltd., Nara Xerox Co., Ltd., Shizuoka Xerox Co., Ltd., Kumamoto Xerox Co., Ltd., Nagasaki Xerox Co., Ltd. and Kagoshima Xerox Co., Ltd.

To promote environmental management throughout all group companies, Fuji Xerox created an environmental management system based on ISO14001 (JIS Q14001), implementing the system in not only its production sites in Japan and overseas, but also its sales and related companies. ISO14001 certification is an environmental management systems certification awarded by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

Attaining the certification at all sales subsidiaries throughout Japan has further enhanced the independence and autonomy at each sales subsidiary, as well as brought about a shared environmental management system. The Japan Audit and Certification Organization for the Environment thus inspected the sales subsidiaries as a group, which greatly increased efficiency in the acquisition process of the certification. This was the first time in Japan that sales subsidiaries had been inspected on a group basis.

Throughout Fuji Xerox Group, a total of 41 sites have already obtained ISO14001 certification, including all domestic manufacturing sites - Ebina, Iwatsuki and Takematsu - as well as various related companies, including Fuji Xerox Office Supply Co., Ltd., Suzuka Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd., Fuji Xerox Australia Pty Limited, Fuji Xerox Korea Co., Ltd. and Taiwan Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. With the recent attainments, a total of 52 companies and sites throughout the Fuji Xerox Group have obtained the certification.

Fuji Xerox and its sales subsidiaries have established a zero waste system where 99.97 percent of Fuji Xerox products retrieved from our customers, including copy machines and digital multifunction machines, are recyclable or reusable.
