Merging electronic and scanned paper documents on
a PC has now become even easier with Fuji Xerox's newly launched
DocuWorks 5.0 (Japanese version) document handling software. The
DocuWorks 5.0 upgrade, which includes advanced operability and search
functions, as well as enhanced security and additional electronic
signature functions, went on sale in the domestic market in early
September.
DocuWorks 5.0 allows users to efficiently manage various
kinds of electronic documents created by different applications
in the DocuWorks format. By clicking on documents that are displayed
as thumbnails, users can view, bundle or unbundle documents on a
PC as easily as handling paper documents on a desk. When used together
with Fuji Xerox's color digital multifunction DocuCentre Color series'
scanning function, users can efficiently convert paper documents
to electronic documents. DocuWorks even meets the needs of personal
users who use desktop scanners, as DocuWorks' highly compressed
format is effective for e-mail attachments, or for storing documents.
Other Features include
Infoview window, which users can confirm the content of the document
without activating the DocuWorks Viewer.
Easy editing, e.g., free rotation of notes written on DocuWorks documents
Link function where users can create links to Web pages or other documents
Easy search function that enables users to search documents by date
or document name, or even by text when used in combination with the
OCR function.
Enhanced security that allows only a designated user to access the
document using a DocuWorks electronic seal impression or electronic
signature function.
