Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd., along with Seiko Instruments Inc., Celartem
Technology Inc., and Nikon Corporation will co-sponsor the Magnum Photos
55th Anniversary Digital Exhibition of Photographs to be held October 8
to 14, 2002 in Mitsukoshi department store's gallery in Nihonbashi, Tokyo. |
| |
|
Magnum Photos, a cooperative endeavor formed by member photojournalists,
celebrates its 55th year since the establishment. As the name of this
year's exhibition implies, it will be held taking a new approach that
allows Magnum photographers to shoot pictures using advanced digital cameras
and produce digital prints of photographs taken and distributed from various
cities in the world, as well as capture these photographs instantly on
the PC monitor, thus, enjoying such works in real-time. |
| |
|
The four companies agreed with the exhibition concept of
making full use of the capabilities of digital technologies, and subsequently
are co-sponsoring the exhibition in terms of providing digital equipment
and technical support. |
| |
|
In the exhibition, Seiko Instruments will launch a new Website
service in which a collection of Magnum photos can be viewed via a network
link to cellular phones. Celartem Technology will archive all exhibited
photographs in VFZ image-format, a unique technology developed by the
company. Nikon will provide its advanced digital SLR camera, the Nikon
D100, which will be used by Magnum Photos photographers living in London,
Paris and New York who will be taking the exhibition photographs. |
| |
|
Everyday during the exhibition period, new photographs,
taken with the Nikon D100, will be sent electronically in VFZ image-format
from New York, Paris and London, to Tokyo. The images will then be printed
on Fuji Xerox's color digital multifunction DocuCentre Color 500 CP machine.
The machine meets the strict requirements of Magnum Photos' photographers,
achieving high-quality digital prints and true reproduction of the nuance
and spirit of the photographs, while keeping with the exhibition theme,
"Love & Love - Human Ties." The high-speed printing of Fuji
Xerox's DocuCentre Color 500 CP allows real-time printing of the photographs
onsite at the exhibition gallery. |
