Fuji Xerox has developed a new line of integrated information
management systems that create an environment where remote users can collaborate
both within and outside the company via the Internet. The systems allow
users to exchange large volumes of documents, including design and technological
specifications, component tables, order forms, test data and analysis
reports.
Initially, Fuji Xerox plans to launch three systems: ArcSuite
Engineering, for the engineering market; ArcSuite Office, for general
office use; and, ArcEPS, an integrated print management system equipped
with stamp and form overlay functions, and which expertly integrates separate
printing processes. These systems was launched on November 18.
Fuji Xerox will also provide an operational analysis service
to ensure customers get optimum effectiveness from their ArcSuite systems.
ArcOWL Knowledge Analysis Service will provide analysis of processes based
on practical operations to ensure that information and database systems
are used at optimum efficiency. As an example, the service provides verification
of the location of information, clarifies information-flow and determines
the number of hours spent on certain activities, thus showing the importance
of each operation and the associated workload.

The Arc (Activate your business Relationship and Communications)
Concept provides solutions and services using advanced digital devices
or Internet terminals to ensure the most effective use of documents over
ubiquitous networks.
The new systems are in package form with the required services bundled,
enabling a large number of staff to collaborate without inter-organizational
or distance constraints. The systems feature an information database,
which can be flexibly expanded to cope with anywhere from tens of thousands
to more than 10 million documents. Arc Concept can be summarized as an
integrated system architecture created to realize the environment best
suited to users depending on respective function. It also consists of
products and services such as consulting.

| Standard Functions of ArcSuite |
| |
| 1. Flexible Scale |
|
ArcSuite is a document management system capable of managing from tens
of thousands to 10 million documents. It can also handle documents in
a unified manner on a group-wide scale. Furthermore, users can maintain
security necessary for document management by specifying access rights
for each document.
|
| 2. Advanced Search Function |
|
In order to search the required information from a large volume of
documents, the system is equipped with attribute and full-text search
functions. The search engine operates on the pretext of large-scale
document management so that users can search through a large number
of documents with ease even if the number of documents increases.
|
| 3. Flexibly Adds New Functions |
|
Each function of ArcSuite is supplied as a separate component so users
can construct a system based on their individual needs and that best
suits their existing environment and operations.
