A total of thirteen copy machine models from Taiwan Fuji Xerox
Corp., including digital DocuCentre 505/605/705, acquired the Green Mark
certification from Taiwan's Environment and Development Foundation on September
14. This was the first time for copy machines to receive the certification
in Taiwan.

The copy machines recognized were eleven digital models,
namely DocuCentre 235/285/250/400/551/505/506/605/606/705/706 and two
analog models, namely Vivace 455/555, all of which are developed and manufactured
by Fuji Xerox. A law that promotes the purchasing of environmentally friendly
products and services was put into effect in Taiwan in 1999. In line with
this law, government organizations place priority on procuring products
that favor environmental preservation, such as Green Mark products. The
government will pay up to 10 percent more for such eco-friendly products
and aims for a procurement ratio of over 50 percent from 2002.

Taiwan Fuji Xerox worked towards acquiring the Green Mark
as a prerequisite to developing future business with government organizations
where the targets of green procurement in office equipment include black
and white copy machines, printers, fax machines and toner cartridges.
Plans are in place to further expand the range of Green Mark products.
