Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. newly opened an exhibition gallery, "Art Space by Fuji Xerox," February 5, 2003 at its headquarters in Tokyo. Since 1988, Fuji Xerox has been collecting print art closely related to its legacy laser xerography technology, which is essential to its core copy machine and printer businesses. These collections were exhibited on selected occasions in line with requests from educational facilities and local governmental bodies. Now, Fuji Xerox has opened the doors of its print art collection to the general public with the establishment of the permanent exhibition gallery.
In addition to works by Pablo Picasso and Jackson Pollock, Fuji Xerox has systematically collected predominantly post-war pieces by such distinguished 20th century artists as Andy Warhol, Jasper Jones and Joseph Beuys, which are now on display in "Art Space by Fuji Xerox."
The Company will also produce a catalogue of the collected works, titled the "Fuji Xerox Print Collection," and will present this publication to specialized institutions for libraries and art research in order to ensure as wide a range of people as possible gain knowledge of the art. Although the catalogue will not be for sale, all items can be viewed free of charge at "Art Space by Fuji Xerox."
Fuji Xerox plans to use the collection to its fullest through coordinated efforts with educational and art-related institutions such as universities and art museums as the need arises.
