Fuji Xerox has developed the 495 J Continuous Feed, a continuous sheet printing system for mission-critical operations that has a maximum print-speed of 460 ppmNote. Sales will begin on September 20, 2004.
The 495 J Continuous Feed is the newest addition to Fuji Xerox's cut sheet laser printer lineup, following the continuous feed, high-speed DocuPrint 1100 CF, which was released in March 2003.
Mission-critical operations in Japan are gradually shifting from large, multi-purpose computers to server systems such as UNIX. Although its predecessors were only compatible with a single data format, the 495 J Continuous Feed supports multiple formats from IBM, Fujitsu, Hitachi and other major industry players. Enabling a variety of applications to be printed from one machine vastly reduces total cost of ownership (TCO).
The 495 J Continuous Feed achieves a high print resolution of 600 dpi, which produces crisp, clear print of small letters, numbers, fine lines and images. The use of a twin drum ensures the same print speed of 460 ppmNote is maintained when printing both front and back sides of the paper, while the compact design reduces the size to approximately 1/3 of normal duplex systems.
Note: Print speed calculated by converting an 18-inch width continuous sheet printed at 35.1 meters per minute, to A4 duplex.
