Fuji Xerox will begin sales of ApeosPort C6550 I / C5540 I, which are based on an entirely new concept, on January 14, 2005.

The new brand "Apeos" is a combination of the Latin word "Aperire," meaning "to open," and the abbreviation of "Office System," and therefore denotes "the realization of an open, limitless office environment." The Apeos series was so named as it accomplishes this feat.
With this system, users can access the Internet directly and transfer documents saved on a network. All this can be accomplished by way of the large-size control panel (optional) without the need for a PC. In other words, digital multifunction machines used as document handling equipment in the office can function as "portals" to a network thanks to the new technology. This broadens the information utilization spectrum and makes changes in the office and work style possible.
It also strengthens links with the systems of other companies, so users can connect to the office systems of their strategic partners. For example, it is possible to connect data-processing systems for another company's mission-critical operations such as manufacturing, sales and accounting with multifunction machines that handle paper documents such as contracts and bill-payment receipts.
