Fuji Xerox Releases Sustainability Report 2004

Fuji Xerox's Sustainability Report 2004, which summarizes its corporate activities in FY2003 aimed at realizing a sustainable society, is now available on the Web.

The Report goes beyond merely conveying details of the activities and reporting data to include a focus on the company's vision and stance. It covers a range of themes, including top management's commitment by President Toshio Arima, five highlights of core corporate activities compiled from a third party perspective, and a section on management and performance, which outlines results.

Key results from FY2003 that are highlighted in the Report are as follows:

  1. Achieved profitability of approximately 60 million yen in recycling business (resource recycling system), which was initiated in 1995.
  2. Reduced the total power consumption* of our copy machines and multifunction machines in Japan to 72 percent in comparison with 1997 levels; meanwhile, the development of new low-energy products culminated in the Energy Conservation Prize for the fifth consecutive year.
    * Data is calculated from the power consumption per copy machine or multifunction machine in the market.
  3. Increased the content ratio of eco-friendly pulp (used pulp, certified pulp) for paper to 76.8 percent and pushed forward with plans to begin using trees from a densely forested plantation in New Zealand from FY2004.

The Report also includes sections related to the value generated for society through Fuji Xerox documents and to corporate ethics, especially in terms of intensifying training to prevent printer fire accidents.

The Report has received third-party assurance by ChuoAoyama Sustainability Certification Co., Ltd. concerning management and performance in the environmental reporting section.
