To achieve greater efficiency in high-volume copying and general print
jobs, Fuji Xerox has introduced the black and white digital print system
Nuvera 120 Light Publisher that achieves lickety split copying of 120
ppm (A4 long-edge feed; simplex). Sales will begin on March 1.
Although digital printing systems for multi-short-run jobs have already
been introduced in the printing industry, users have been demanding
higher image quality. Nuvera 120 Light Publisher satisfies this need
by providing a printer resolution comparable to 4,800dpi x 600dpi* and
a copy resolution of 600dpi when both reading and outputting in both
main and sub scanning directions. With no change or deterioration of
the original quality the precision of the copy is outstanding.
Additionally, users can select from one of 125, 106 or 85 lines per
inch when printing. The high resolution ensures sharp and clear text,
while the combination of 125 lines per inch and 256 shades of gray for
halftone prints and photos ensure natural reproduction even in areas
with weak or faint contrast.
The scanner is also capable of reading documents at a speed of 120
ppm (A4 long-edge feed; simplex) and exhibits excellent productivity
even when outputting a single copy. The use of a dual-scan-head system
means it can process both sides of the page at the same continuous speed,
so productivity levels remain unchanged. The automatic document feeder
can handle 300-page documents in one go, cutting down on the need to
split up large print jobs.
Thanks to the DocuSP controller for image processing and systems management, the machine has a high affinity with the DocuTech 6180 / 6135, which already has a proven track record in the on-demand-publishing industry. It is therefore much easier to perform distributed and compatible processing, thereby seamlessly meeting the diverse requirements of print jobs.
The DocuSP controller adopts Ultra SPARC II e from Sun Microsystems to provide complex systems management, advanced processing capability and flexible network connectivity. As it is installed in the body of the controller, there is no need to allow for any extra space for the controller itself. Furthermore, the machine incorporates an emulation mode as with the DocuTech 6180 to maintain consistency across the black and white DocuTech series.
