Implements Key Campaign to Save Energy
in Offices at Fuji Xerox
and its Domestic AffiliatesParticipation in "Team -6 %" program promoted by Japan's Ministry of Environment
June 16, 2005
| Fuji Xerox will participate in the "Team
-6 % (minus six percent)" movement advanced by Japan's
Ministry of the Environment, implementing an all-encompassing
strategy aimed at conserving energy in its offices from June
15 to September 30. |
| During this timeframe, the following initiatives
will be employed to maximize energy savings: |
| |
|
Set room temperature to 28°C;
all personnel, including corporate officers, sales representatives
and supporting departments will encourage "Cool Biz"
(no-ties, no-jackets) |
| |
|
Turn off lights at lunchtime (except when
room required for use) |
| |
|
Use the stairs when going to a nearby floor |
| |
|
Turn lights and OA equipment off when not
in use |
| |
|
Encourage idling stop when driving |
| |
|

| This campaign extends to 14 domestic affiliates
and 34 domestic sales subsidiaries for a total of 48 companies
(approximately 30,000 employees, including those at Fuji Xerox). |
| At the same time, in order to boost awareness
of the environment and the need to save energy, Fuji Xerox
will commend any employee that comes up with a highly efficient
measure or unique idea to help the cause. Such concepts include
ways to save energy in the office, poems related to the environment
or energy conservation, and ideas on "My Cool Biz."
|
| At the end of 2004, Fuji Xerox introduced
an energy-conservation checklist of 106 items for its 64 companies
and work sites, including overseas affiliates. This has provided
a deeper understanding of the company-wide situation, and
has been useful in outlining the areas to address in order
to further conserve energy. Through the latest campaign, Fuji
Xerox aims to expand the scope of its energy-saving efforts
to an even larger scale. |
