Fuji Xerox Launches Remote Collaboration "InteractiveWall"Simultaneous sharing of information
on digital whiteboards in two remote locations
August 15, 2005
| Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. has developed a remote
collaboration service "InteractiveWall" that enables the
simultaneous and bidirectional sharing of information such
as ideas and diagrams displayed on a digital whiteboard. The
service also allows sharing of documents stored on a server
via a network. The system is perfect for videoconferences
conducted remotely. Sales begin on August 16, 2005. |
| Traditional videoconference systems relied
solely on image and voice. InteractiveWall provides the extra
advantage of allowing both parties to simultaneously view
handwritten memos on the whiteboard plus digital documents.
It strengthens remote collaboration as it gives participants
in different locales the feeling that they are actually in
the same room together. Users have real-time access to notes
written on the whiteboard during discussions between multiple
staff members actually in distant locations. Materials on
the network can also be extracted and put away, while digital
documents can be annotated. These features greatly enhance
the productivity of a meeting. |
| InteractiveWall is extremely simply to
operate - users can select options from the menu with a virtual
pen or by touching it with their finger. This facilitates
more intuitive and natural operation as standard input mechanisms
on a PC-keyboards and mouse-become unnecessary. The incorporation
of an IC card helps to regulate access to materials that require
user verification or login. It is possible to utilize any
InteractiveWall if the user possesses a personal IC card. |
| All memos jotted on the whiteboard or on
a digital document are automatically saved so that they can
be referred to easily at a later time from a PC. |
