Masaaki Inagaki, Managing Director
of Fuji Xerox of Shenzhen Ltd., Wins 2005 Friendship Award
From China's State Administration of Foreign Experts Affair

September 29, 2005

Masaaki Inagaki, managing director of Fuji Xerox of Shenzhen Ltd.-one of Fuji Xerox's manufacturing sites-has been nominated by China's State Administration of Foreign Experts Affair, and authorized by the State Council to be awarded the 2005 Friendship Award. The award ceremony will be held from 3 p.m. on September 29, 2005 (China local time) at Beijing's Great Hall of the People.

The annual Friendship Award was established in 1991 to reward foreign experts in China who have contributed significantly to China's economic growth, social contribution or cultural development. This year, the award is being given to 50 foreign experts throughout the country, including five Japanese. In the past, there have been eight winners from Shenzhen city, and Inagaki is the first Japanese to win from Shenzhen.

Inagaki is highly evaluated for growing Fuji Xerox of Shenzhen's business since being appointed managing director in 2001, doubling its revenue in two years. Under Inagaki's leadership, the company has also been active in promoting recycling, achieving zero waste, and winning certification as an environment friendly corporation by the State Environmental Protection Administration of China in June. Inagaki also acts as vice chairman of Shenzhen Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment as well as chairman of the Japanese Chamber of Industry and Commerce in the city (joined by 336 companies / unofficial organization to date), and contributed not only to economic development, but also to activities rooted to China, including planting trees for greening as well as promoting scholarship programs.

"This award is not only an honor for me, but also for all Japanese-funded companies based in Shenzhen," Inagaki said. "The award will encourage me to act as a model for all Japanese companies in the city and do more work to promote Sino-Japanese friendship in the future."
