Fuji Xerox Launches ApeosPort-II Series
and DocuCentre-II Series

| Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. has newly developed
the ApeosPort-II C4300 / C3300 / C2200 based on its new Apeos
concept, as well as the DocuCentre -II C4300 / C3300 / C2200
which function as base color digital multifunction devices.
All six models are scheduled for launch on January 16, 2006. |
| Since its announcement of the new Apeos
concept, Fuji Xerox has rolled out a number of models in the
ApeosPort series, which operate as network "gateways"
to an open office environment. The new ApeosPort-II series
being launched broadens the external access available from
the intranet to the Internet via Fuji Xerox's original Web
services technology, Apeos iiXNote 1. The technology allows document
flow to extend beyond the confines of an individual company.
For example, an intercompany Web-based database can be constructed
using Fuji Xerox's ASP serviceNote 2. Important paper documents
can be shared simply by scanning, and moreover, they can be
linked to various mission-critical systems. |
| In an intercompany environment, where firewalls
are absent, security functions must be superlative to ensure
safe use of documents. The ApeosPort-II series provides the
ability to monitor output and transmissions by tracking what
document is being used, by whom and when during copying, printing
and faxing operations using of an image logNote 3 function
linked with a server. To prevent unauthorized copying, the
system also offers a paper security functionNote 4, which
restricts the copying, faxing and scanning of confidential
information by enabling users to select settings that restrict
reproduction of paper documents beforehand. |
| The new series is expected to generate
high demand in the market, with lickety-split speeds of 45
ppm/35 ppm (monochrome/color), 35 ppm/31 ppm, and 26 ppm/26
ppm respectively (A4 long-edge feed). Also, the series employs
EA-HGNote 5 toner, which enables
glossy and vivid colors. By offering this new series with
augmented functionality, Fuji Xerox aims to support further
expansion of document utilization in a secure environment. |
