New Emulsion Aggregation Toner Factory
Wing Up and RunningInvestment of 8.0 billion yen more than doubles
manufacturing capacity
December 20, 2005
| With construction complete, operations
begin today at the new wing of the state-of-the-art plant
specifically designed and built for the manufacture of Emulsion
Aggregation (EA) toner at Fuji Xerox Imaging Materials Co.,
Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. An
opening ceremony was held today at Fuji Xerox Imaging Materials.
|
| From now, Fuji Xerox is shifting to the
high image quality EA toner in all of its office copy devices,
multifunction devices, as well as office printers sold. To
achieve this, the company invested a total of 8.0 billion
yen to boost its annual manufacturing capacity twofold to
that of fiscal 2004, to nearly 5,000 tons. |
| Construction of the new factory wing commenced
in December 2004. Establishing molding and automated assembly
lines for toner cartridges there has realized an all-encompassing
manufacturing system from toner to cartridge production. |
| The EA toner production process realizes
both less CO2 emission and high
print quality. Fuji Xerox first used EA toner in the digital
color multifunction series DocuCentre Color 500 / 500 CP launched
in September 2001. Its use has since been systematically expanded
to include ApeosPort-II C4300 / C3300 / C2200, a new intelligent
field system set for launch on January 16, 2006, as well as
Fuji Xerox's core products, such as the DocuCentre 750 I /
650 I / 550 I high-speed digital black and white multifunctional
devices, and DocuPrint C3540 / C3140 and DocuPrint C2424 /
2426 color laser printers. |
| With plans to incorporate EA toner in all
new office copy devices, multifunctional devices and printers,
demand for the toner was projected to exceed manufacturing
capacity in fiscal 2005. Accordingly, Fuji Xerox concluded
that it was necessary to double capacity. |
| While Fuji Xerox is shifting its assembly
production lines to China as part of its productions strategy,
publishing systems, engineering systems, and high-speed printers
for mission-critical systems are produced in Japan. To cope
with the advanced production methods used to produce toner
and to quickly correspond to the customer's daily demands,
Fuji Xerox will continue to strengthen toner production in
Japan. |
