Six Types and 12 Models in Fuji Xerox's Digital
Color Multifunction Device Lineup Win Energy Conservation Prize
First in the industry to win seven consecutive
years
February 2, 2006
| A total of six different types and 12 models
in Fuji Xerox's digital color multifunction device series
won the Director General's Prize for energy conservation in
the 16th Energy Conservation
Awards held by the Energy Conservation Center for 2005 (in
Japan). The recipients of the award in the energy-saving machines
and systems category were: the ApeosPort/DocuCentre C7550
I series (50 ppm in color/75 ppm in monochrome - A4 long-edge
feed); the ApeosPort/DocuCentre C6550 I series (50 ppm in
color/65 ppm in monochrome); and the ApeosPort/DocuCentre
C5540 I series (40 ppm in color/55 ppm in monochrome). This
is the first time in the industry that a firm has won the
award for seven consecutive years. |
| The devices (see table 1) were recognized
primarily for two key points: (1) the development of unique
high-speed free belt nip fuser technology, which realizes
high-speed, energy-saving ink transfer using a belt on the
fuser to ensure a wider contact area with the paper; and (2)
a reduction of 36 percentNote 1
in power consumption while reducing warm-up time to roughly
one-quarter (two minutes and thirty secondsNote
2) that of conventional models by employing Vertical
Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL) technology that enables
high output, low power consumption and excellent uniformity
for exposure equipment. |

ApeosPort/DocuCentre C7550 I operates
at 229Wh/h, which is 21 percent less than the conventional
DocuCentre Color 500 CP (291Wh/h), while ApeosPort/DocuCentre
C5540 I operates at 187Wh/h, or 36 percent less than the conventional
DocuCentre Color 500 CP (Fuji Xerox estimate based on set
standards). |

|
The warm-up time of ApeosPort/DocuCentre
C7550 I is two minutes and thirty seconds, which is one-quarter
that of the conventional DocuCentre Color 500 CP (nine minutes
and thirty seconds). |
| All of the devices comply with the International
Energy Star Program and the Green Purchasing Law, which promote
the development of energy-efficient OA equipment. They have
also received Eco Mark certification from the Japan Environment
Association. |
| Fuji Xerox has won the Energy Conservation
Grand Prize seven times in a row to date: the digital full
color copy device DocuColor 1250 series in 1999, the digital
full color printer DocuPrint C2220 in 2000, the high-speed
digital multifunction device DocuCentre 707 / 607 / 507 series
in 2001, the office laser printer DocuPrint 181 / 211 in 2002,
the A3-capable desktop color laser printer, the DocuPrint
C2425 / C2426 in 2003, and the document management system,
which combines the DocuCentre Color a450 / f450 digital color
multifunction device (45 ppm in monochrome/35 ppm in color
- A4 long-edge feed) and CentreWare Flow Service digital document
management/distribution control software in 2004. |

| Energy Conservation Awards |
| The purpose of the Energy Conservation
Awards is to seek out, identify and commend consumer energy
apparatus, material, and appliances that excel in terms of
energy- and resource-saving features, to support the development
and promotion thereof, and ultimately, to support efforts
to reduce the discharge of gases responsible for global warming,
such as carbon dioxide, in order to make an energy-saving
society a reality. |
| Subject apparatus and systems are selected
from appliances, materials and system products (consuming
energy) already commercially on sale or commercialized following
sufficient research and development, purchasable by consumers
or entrepreneurs and demonstrating exceptional energy-saving
features. Also taken into account are features such as the
degree of innovation, product quality, environmental improvement
features and safety-consciousness. |
