Fuji Xerox Co-Sponsors FIBA World Championship 2006

Supports the Event With 129 Printers and Multifunction Devices, Including ApeosPort

TOKYO, July 26, 2006 – Fuji Xerox will serve as a co-sponsor of the FIBA World Championship 2006, men’s basketball tournament to decide the world best team, which will be held from August 19 to September 3. During the Championship, Fuji Xerox will provide 129 multifunction devices and printers including ApeosPort, a core series of the company, for use by the international press and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).

To make a major contribution to the success of the event, Fuji Xerox will install the multifunction devices and printers at five venues in Japan and provide maintenance services during the event as well as for the event preparation period from August 15.

With the aim of improving its brand awareness throughout the event, Fuji Xerox will display signboards at all venues and air its ApeosPort TV commercial featuring Yuta Tabuse, a Japanese professional basketball player, during broadcasting on major Japanese TV stations.

The tournament hosts the best 24Note teams from around the world, victorious in the qualifying rounds that saw 212 countries and regions competing. The number of participating teams at the 15th FIBA World Championship has been increased from 16 to 24, competing in a total of 80 games, 60 in the preliminary round and 20 in the final round. This is the first time for the men’s basketball world championships to be staged in Japan.

Note: The 24 teams make up the winners from the five zones of Asia, Africa, Americas, Europe and Oceania as well as the host country and the victor from the Athens Olympics.
