Fuji Xerox Co-Sponsors FIBA World Championship 2006
Supports the Event With 129 Printers and Multifunction Devices, Including
ApeosPort
| TOKYO, July 26, 2006 – Fuji Xerox will
serve as a co-sponsor of the FIBA World Championship 2006, men’s basketball
tournament to decide the world best team, which will be held from August 19 to September
3. During the Championship, Fuji Xerox will provide 129 multifunction devices and
printers including ApeosPort, a core series of the company, for use by the international
press and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). |
| To make a major contribution to the success of the event, Fuji
Xerox will install the multifunction devices and printers at five venues in Japan
and provide maintenance services during the event as well as for the event preparation
period from August 15. |
| With the aim of improving its brand awareness throughout the
event, Fuji Xerox will display signboards at all venues and air its ApeosPort TV
commercial featuring Yuta Tabuse, a Japanese professional basketball player, during
broadcasting on major Japanese TV stations. |
| The tournament hosts the best 24Note teams from around the world,
victorious in the qualifying rounds that saw 212 countries and regions competing.
The number of participating teams at the 15th FIBA World Championship has been increased
from 16 to 24, competing in a total of 80 games, 60 in the preliminary round and
20 in the final round. This is the first time for the men’s basketball world
championships to be staged in Japan. |

Asia, Africa, Americas, Europe and Oceania as well as the host country and the victor
from the Athens Olympics. |
