Fuji Xerox Integrates Fuji Xerox Printing Systems
to Expand Its Office Printer Business
Reorganizes Development and Sales Functions
Effective April 2007 to be Further Competitive in The Market
TOKYO, October 26, 2006 – Aiming to expand its office printer business and to strengthen its coherent structure as a manufacturer, which spans from research, development, manufacturing to marketing, Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. will integrate Fuji Xerox Printing Systems Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary that develops and sells office laser printers, on April 1, 2007.
With growing demand for office printers to be multifunction devices incorporating copy, fax and scan functions, competition in the market is becoming increasingly fierce. To enhance its overall strength as a manufacturer, Fuji Xerox, through this integration, expects to bring about a greater synergy by leveraging the experience and knowledge that Fuji Xerox Printing Systems has acquired in its printer business. Ultimately, Fuji Xerox aims to strengthen its competitive edge in the market as well as expand its business on a global basis.
The reorganization enables Fuji Xerox to: (1) strengthen its design, technology and manufacturing capabilities for printers, as well as improve operational efficiency and speed; (2) enhance its product line-up and development efficiency by further reinforcing cooperation between development frameworks for printers and multifunction devices; and (3) accelerate domestic sales by integrating Fuji Xerox Printing System’s sales structure based on Fuji Xerox’s sales strength.
As a wholly owned subsidiary of Fuji Xerox, Fuji Xerox Printing Systems was established in April 2003 by spinning off Fuji Xerox’s printer business with the objective of consolidating management resources into the office printer business to achieve agile and speedy management. Since its establishment, Fuji Xerox Printing Systems has been steadily expanding sales mainly by OEM (original equipment manufacturing) business toward Japanese, Asian, European and US markets, driving Fuji Xerox’s growth as one of its core businesses.
In order to attain sustainable growth of its office printer business, Fuji Xerox continues to reinforce its infrastructure.
After the integration, Fuji Xerox will continue to employ Fuji Xerox Printing Systems’ workforce.
