Fuji Xerox’s DocuWorks Achieves
Two Million License Sales for Offices in Japan
TOKYO, May 21, 2007 —Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. has achieved two million license domestic sales of DocuWorks, document-handling software that was launched in September 1998.
The need to digitize paper documents has risen in line with recent internal control regulations and the enactment of the Japanese SOX Act in 2006, as well as movement to reduce paper documents for environmental purposes. These and other factors have led to robust demand for DocuWorks and some public offices, manufacturing businesses and other listed companies have installed more than 1,000 licences.
Meanwhile, a total of 170,000 licenses were sold overseas in fiscal 2006 in a variety of languages, including English, Chinese, Korean and French, up 20.2 percent from the previous fiscal year.
DocuWorks 6.1 software enables digital documents created on a computer and paper documents scanned by a digital multifunction device or scanner to be stored, edited and distributed together. In just the same way as handling paper on a desk, users can bundle both digital and paper documents, annotate them with text and highlight, and attach comment bubbles, all on a computer screen, resulting in higher business efficiency.
Fuji Xerox aims to introduce DocuWorks in a larger scale to be linked with customer’s mission-critical systems, while advancing multilingualization to expand its sales in overseas countries and regions.
