Fuji Xerox has launched the DocuColor 1256 GA, a digital color multifunction machine that achieves print speeds of 12.5 ppm in color and 50 ppm in monochrome (A4 long-edge feed), and that boasts the world's first high resolution color laser printing of True 2,400 dpi. These features are made possible by incorporating Fuji Xerox's unique VCSEL (Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser ) with 32 beams. Sales began on August 21.
Fuji Xerox strove to improve the image sharpness of color laser prints to meet customer needs in the DTP (desktop publishing) market related to checking the final appearance and color before printing. As the successor to the DocuColor 1255 CP, which was extremely well received amid tough market conditions, the DocuColor 1256 GA realizes an even higher quality print. Compared with conventional models incorporating one or two laser beams, this latest multifunction machine utilizes 32 beams working in unison to print the image. This assures fine detail at high speeds.
Fuji Xerox also developed the CLAPPER*1, a chip that quickly and accurately processes the pixels to control the image produced by the VCSEL. By adopting new hardware and software technologies for the graphics, the DocuColor 1256 GA generates beautiful highlights and smooth gradations, essential for high quality prints.
The exclusive controller, PrintServer U, assures high productivity by way of the high-speed processor, XeonTM 2.4GHz*2. In addition, Fuji Xerox's original color management technology allows color calibration based on DIC standard colors*3, Japan Color reproductions 2001 and JMPA colors (standard in the advertising industry) in addition to DIC, TOYO and PANTONE colors. The product also enables CMYK ink simulation for reproducing printed materials.
The DocuColor 1256 GA complies with the International Energy Star Program to save energy as well as the Green Procurement Law in Japan (a law for promoting the procurement of "green commodities" by the national government). The machine has also received Eco Mark certification from the Japan Environmental Association. The DocuColor 1256 GA also clears all of Fuji Xerox's strict standards by using recycled parts and resources, while employing a recycling-oriented production process.
