Fuji Xerox plans to strengthen its services offering for the digital color multifunction series DocuCentre Color f450 / f360 / f250 and DocuCentre Color a450 / a360 / a250, which were released in January 2004. Additionally, Fuji Xerox will launch four new digital black and white multifunction models - DocuCentre a285 / a235 and DocuCentre f285 / f235 - on September 1.

To further strengthen the services of the popular DocuCentre Color f450 / f360 / f250 and DocuCentre Color a450 / a360 / a250 series, Fuji Xerox will introduce Document Combo^Note1 on September 9 to allow users the option of sharing and transmitting digital documents.

Document Combo is an all-in-one optional system that eliminates the need for private servers and software packages by incorporating document image processing and transmission capabilities, allowing scanned or faxed documents to be read via web browser, automatically listing the job history of the multifunction machine it is connected to, and enabling the latest printer and scanner drivers to be downloaded.

It also turns paper documents into digital format with increased efficiency. Besides the scanner function, Document Combo has an optional high-speed image compression^Note2 feature that operates through a newly developed processor. Multiple color documents can be effectively transformed into PDF or DocuWorks format by compressing text, photos and graphics at the required compression rate.

New additions to the intelligent digital black and white multifunction lineup, namely DocuCentre a285 / a235 and DocuCentre f285 / f235, achieve print speeds of 28^Note3 and 23^Note4 pages per minute, respectively, in black and white in high resolution. In addition to a management services function for copying, printing and scanning functions, the machine optionally offers functions to encode data copied onto disk when copying or printing, then either overwrite or delete it. These models also have asset management and security service features that are essential when connected to a network. The machines comply with the International Energy Star Program and Green Procurement Law, which was introduced by the Japanese government to promote the procurement of "green commodities."

As well as being equipped with the standard printer, scanner and fax functions offered in the DocuCentre a285 / a235 series, the DocuCentre f285 / f235 series demonstrates its superior intelligence by way of network compatibility, as it permits the automatic transmission of faxed or scanned documents to servers and PCs. By converting scanned or faxed documents into DocuWorks or PDF format, users are able to register the documents on multiple PCs and servers, and send them via email or iFAX (InternetFAX) directly through the network.
